We are getting ready.

In two hours the VYC Tea will take place, an event that has been months in the making. It is one of two major events we need to complete before we set sail to Lake Ontario on Monday, June 22, 2015, 5 days from now. Babysitting the Clark kids (Aubrey Emma, Grayson and Andrew) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is the other major activity.

Kerry has been planning this tea for at least 8 months, starting when we were in Florida. Her limited mobility from knee issues provided her with lots of time to research and plan. 22 ladies are attending, and 8 men. I insisted that we have a men’s table, which I am hosting. It should be great fun. The foods they are producing are amazing, as are the decorations. I’ll post a few pictures.

Annie is ready for the trip! This morning I replaced a fan in the main salon that was really noisy and made a new stick to measure the amount of diesel fuel in the 200 gallon tank. The old one’s numbers were faded to the point of being unreadable. Prior projects include rebuilding the macerator pump, installing a device to measure the amount of water remaining in our freshwater tanks, sealing a crack in the top of the holding tank, replacing the pressure relief valve in the water heater, updating digital charts, etc. Over the winter we had major electrical and leak sealing done at Parker Marine. So, we should be set. One small worry is that the last time I started the generator the starter seemed to slip twice before it caught. It has started several times since then, so I am keeping my fingers crossed about this issue.

Jim and Jola Karpinski are going with us in their boat, Liberty, a 32 foot Legacy. Jim is rushing to get all his projects done. He has helped me on a lot of projects so I offered to help him wax his boat tomorrow.
